WIAW – A Day at the Market

It’s Wednesday, yet again, and that means it’s WIAW!

Breakfast

I had a piece of toast with half pb&banana half avocado.

I had the exact same thing when I got home from cross country. One piece of toast isn’t enough for breakfast!

Lunch

Since it was like 90 degrees out I wanted something cold and refreshing. Which means green smoothie. It was NOT as good as normal though, since I only had kale, no spinach 😦 I really don’t like kale in smoothies. It never mixes well.

I knew I needed something more so I had, you guessed it, an avocado turkey sandwich. It will never get old.

Then I headed to the Farmer’s Market to set up my stand! I sold my green beans and tomatoes. My cousin sold her wine racks and homemade purses, and my mom sold Tastefully Simple! It’s only $5 to set up a stand, so I figured why not? I made $12 😀

Dinner

I don’t even know what dinner was. A whole bunch of randoms thrown together. I wish I was creative with meals, but I’m not. I eat the same things everyday.

Photo2 (62)

Green beans, broccoli & hummus, tomatoes, guac, chips & salsa. I really wasn’t even hungry that much. The weather was all groggy and humid which makes me not hungry!

Dessert

I had big plans. I actually felt like baking something! I had so many recipes. But that’s the problem. I get overwhelmed and can’t pick something! So, dessert ended up being ice cream. Moose Tracks and Vanilla. With horrrrible quality.

So… not my best day of eats, but not my worst. But check out these amazing (and simple) treats!

Aurora’s Banana Custard

Have a happy Hump Day! 😀

MIMM – A Bit of Everything

I can’t believe I go back to school in two weeks. Where did the summer go?! I have quite a few marvelous happenings that I want to share, so let’s get started!

Marvelous… All of last week was spent at the fair. My cross country team had to clean up after all the concerts so we got in free everyday! I will admit, after a few days I was pretty sick of the fair food. I didn’t think it was possible to get sick of elephant ears!

Marvelous… My garden is doing amazing. I have so much produce I don’t know what to do with! I think I’ll do a more detailed post of the garden… coming soon! This is yesterdays haul, and I still have to go back today!

Marvelous…2 new magazines to read 😀

Marvelous… the little cafe we went to last week! Oh my goodness it was so cute. And their menu was fantastic! It was hard, but I finally decided on the chicken pesto panini.

Marvelous… finding my FAVORITE ice cream flavor at the stand. Peanut Butter Mackinac Island Fudge. It’s a rarity to find, so if you do you MUST get it. So. Yummy.

Marvelous…eating another hamburger!

Marvelous…being in a fashion show! I was asked last minute to model some dresses for a local boutique and of course I said yes! It was my first time ever modeling, and it was so much fun!

Not so marvelous… bird in the house! Yesterday Cleo brought the poor little guy in.

So that was a bit all over the place but that’s okay! I have so many post ideas but I need to get writing first, lol 😀 Hope everyone’s Monday was as good as a Monday can be!

Avocado Turkey Salad

What really bugs me is when people spell avocado wrong. Everyday on Pinterest I’ll see “avacado” or “avocodo”. Come on people! #grammarnazi

Anyway, I think it’s finally time that I share this wonderful little treat with everyone. I’ve been making it (almost daily) this past month but am yet to share! Really, it’s hardly even a recipe. No baking or hard work required. Just a little mixing!

Avocado Turkey Salad

Ingredients

1/2 ripe avocado

3-4 slices turkey

pepper

lime juice (optional)

1 tbsp mayo (optional)

You literally put everything in a bowl and mix.

Spread on some toasted whole grain bread, top with spinach, and that’s that! Lunch! (or dinner 😉 ) It was both for me yesterday!

Yesterday – great day! Easy 4 miles, then I devoured this

Photo4 (10)

Overnight oats in a jar with 1/2 cup oats, almond milk, greek yogurt, 1/2 sliced banana, blueberries, and peanut butter!

I read my book a little then decided between oatmeal or a sandwich for lunch. The sandwich won.

Then I went blueberry picking with mom! It reminded me of Katherine’s post, which was so lovely!

And THEN we picked the first batch of veggies from my garden! They were delicious with dinner 🙂 there’s just something about eating your own produce that tastes so good!

Tomorrow I’m leaving for the cottage until Monday, so I might be MIA for a few days! Have a great weekend 😀

Run for Joe

My first race since the half marathon was yesterday, the Run for Joe, a 5k in honor of a local soldier who was killed fighting for our country.

Last year I ran this race and I got second place for all the women with a time of 22:57. I was so surprised to do that well!

photo (40)

That was literally the beginning of my running journey. So much has changed since then! I would say for the good 🙂

I had toast with pb and banana before the race and I think that is my super power food. I got there, registered, talked to some friends, went to the bathroom, and we were off! I seriously felt like I sprinted the whole race. 3.1 miles is nothing compared to 13.1!

Photo5 (4)

I finished in 20:31! A new PR by well over two minutes! I won overall women too!

I was not expecting to win. It was a wonderful surprise!

friends!

I felt like I could’ve gone faster. I wasn’t even tired at the end. I want to break 20!! I am so excited for cross country 😀 and summer races! I just want to race!

After the run I inhaled at least a dozen donut holes (I deserved them!) and then mom and I headed over to my step grandpas. I’m planting a garden there this year and we went to plan it! Then I found out that he grows asparagus (what?!) and it was ready! I had no idea how asparagus grows- right out of the ground and you just snap it and pick it!

Photo1 (82)

We won’t be buying asparagus for quite awhile 😉 or any veggies, once I start growing!

Do you have a garden? What do you grow?

Have you ever won a race? Age group?

5 more days of school! 😀
