WIAW – Double Offender

Oh my gosh. Has it seriously been two weeks since I last posted?! What am I doing with my life? (besides softball, cross country, house work, babysitting) While I do miss writing posts, it has been nice to take a small break. I have been reading everyone’s doings, though! I have to say, I am just SO happy for Miranda and Christian… they’re getting married!

Yesterday’s eats were not much worth sharing, but I still love linking up to the party, so let’s get started! Thanks Jenn!

Breakfast was a very common happening around here…

And then I was still hungry so I had another one.

Mom and I ran a couple errands and I got some lunch-

Chicken pesto pita. It’s always a treat to get to this restaurant because they close at 3 everyday which is the time I get done with school. They also have..

Scones! DELISH. This flavor was banana heath, last time was banana snickers. Yum!

Mom was gone for dinner which left me home to fend for myself. (which I do anyway!) That resulted in…

Yep. Another pb&j&banana toast. Two times (technically three) in one day. Like the Barney plate? We need to do the dishes, haha!

And dessert-

texas sheet

Leftover Texas sheet cake a la grandma and vanilla ice cream. Boom. No guilt!

I’m off for my run now and then to relax the rest of the day! Things will wind down for a few weeks before high school cross country starts. So excited!

Happy Wednesday! 😀

WIAW – Are You Cereal?

Hellooo 80 degree weather! I’ve been waiting long enough! It’s time for another WIAW. Thank you Jenn, for hosting the par-tay!

I have no desire to make anything lately. Which is why this post is dedicated to cereal – one of my fav foods. I love it because there are just so many varieties! When Sunnie did a post on customized cereal, I knew I had to share my combos!

I always start with a layer of greek yogurt on the bottom, and top with almond milk. I take the picture, then mix it up! 😀

I like to have at least one bowl of cereal a day. I was taught well! 😉

Cereal: soggy or crunchy?

Hope everyone’s Wednesday has been fantastic! 😀

MIMM – Summer Livin’

Hi friends! I wasn’t planning on writing anything today but I realized that I could throw together some marvelous life happenings. 😀

Marvelous is… going to the zoo! The other day I went with my cousins, and while it was hot, we had a blast!

photo 1 (34)

Marvelous is… my new ring my dad bought me! Isn’t it pretty? We went to a family reunion over the weekend and we spent some good quality time together.

photo 2 (37)

Marvelous is… my mom got a free iPad! SO jealous. It’s for work, buut I’m thinking a few apps won’t hurt. 😉

photo 1 (36)

Marvelous is… 2 new swimsuits! I was so in need of a new suit (or two!)

photo 2 (38)

Marvelous is… my cousins from Idaho here for the month!

Marvelous is… Pinterest. It’s an addiction. The amount of time I spend on there doesn’t need to be discussed…

time spent

Marvelous is… running again! I took last week off from the road – I figured I could use it after the half, and my knee was bothering me. I think I definitely made the right decision – everyone could use a break once in awhile! But man, did it feel good to run today. 😀 Oh yeah – new shoes!! Mizuno Wave Rider 16.

Photo2 (39)

Marvelous is… life. I just finished the book “First They Killed My Father” and it really makes you realize how good we have it. Our problems are nothing compared to what those children went through. I’d really recommend reading this.

Smile! You got through Monday!

Have a great week 😀

WIAW – Getting better

Posting 3 days in a row? I must have some free time, lol! It has been quite awhile since I took part in a WIAW… I’ve missed it!

This is Sunday’s eats. Well.. dinner at least! I didn’t take any other pictures 😉

First: Church! My church just got a new priest and so far I really like him. I think he’ll really help the church!

shirt: Topshop

maxi skirt: Kohls

I am so happy I bought this maxi skirt. I was really unsure if I’d get the guts to wear it, but I love it! It was soo comfy.

The rest of the day was pretty chill. (I had run a half marathon the day before!) Then Mom and I headed over to my aunt’s house for dinner – chicken on the grill. I don’t really eat plain chicken so I had a bowl of cereal right before and wasn’t planning on eating there. When we got there I saw corn… and the chicken actually looked kind of good. I had eaten less than an hour before and it’s totally not in my normal. It’s like I’m scared of eating meals too close together.. but I ate there too!

Photo2 (38)

I’m struggling right now with only eating when I’m hungry. I’m trying to eat 4 or 5 small meals rather than 3 big meals a day.  It’s really big to me that I put aside that I had just ate and ate another meal! I know it bothers my family when we go to family dinners and I don’t eat there because it didn’t work in my “schedule”. And then I went back for a second plate!

And then my aunt brought out these…

Photo1 (100)

I could have easily said no and not had any ice cream. But you know what, it sounded good, and I wasn’t going to deprive myself of it just because I hadn’t mentally scheduled it earlier! I’m getting a lot better with that. Months ago, I would have every meal planned 3 days ahead. I’m kind of liking not even knowing what my next meal will be. Don’t get me wrong, I would never starve myself or do any harm to my body. Sometimes I just feel like if I’m not careful of what I eat then I’ll end up back in my old body. I have to think of all the other changes I’ve made though, like exercising and just being more active.

Then we had a girls’ night with pedicures 😀

photo 3 (31)

Whew! I wasn’t planning on getting that wordy but it felt good to get out. I really think that I’m coming to a peace with my body. I love eating and am not going to worry about it. I think it’s okay that I have a huge appetite – doesn’t running burn tons of calories? 😉

And a picture of Cleo just for good measure 😀

Hope everyone’s doing great!

Firecracker 5 Mile

I know I’m going a little backwards with posting but I want to share my race on the fourth with you!

The reason I wasn’t going to go hard at the half marathon on Saturday was that I ran a 5 mile race two days prior.  My plan was to get a good time at the Firecracker and take it easy at the half. I ended up going hard at both… figures 😉

This was my third year doing this race. They have it every Fourth of July, and let’s just say last year was not my year. I hadn’t been running at all and I pretty much died. It’s kind of funny to think about, haha!

red and blue in my hair for the Fourth!

Top: Target

Shorts: Kohls

Shoes: Mizuno Wave Elixir 8

I also wore my Boston wristband.

My plan was to definitely get under 40, and somewhere around 35 would be nice but no big deal if I didn’t. Photo3 (18)

I started off pretty fast (unlike the Heritage Half) and I didn’t feel as good. Miles 2 and 3 were probably my slowest, but I don’t know since I don’t have a Garmin yet.

Photo2 (35)

I still had enough energy to sprint at the finish though!

Photo1 (97)

I forgot to smile.. of course.

I ended up with 35:28 – PR!! I was the 5th women and first in my age group!

Photo2 (36)

I had to rush after the parade to Main Street to march in the parade – marching band! I played the bass drum, but I didn’t’ take any pictures. After that (and almost passing out in the heat), I went to my aunt’s house for her annual 4th of July party! This was really the first year I payed attention to the food, but man it was good.

Photo1 (98)

The main course was pulled pork and chicken but I don’t really do those. I had strawberry salad, broccoli salad (favorite!), fruit, cheese and crackers, and dessert!

Red White and Blue Trifle

The rest of the day was spent with family and friends having a lot of fun! The 4th of July is huge in my town. Everyone comes out and we have a big celebration! The night was ended with fireworks that didn’t get their picture taken.

So that was my 4th of July, and it’s pretty much the same every year, haha!

How did you celebrate your 4th?

Hope everyone is having a terrific Tuesday! 😀

Heritage Half Marathon

I ran another half marathon!

half crazy

I know, I’m sorry I’ve left you guys for so long but life has been crazy. I got home from camp, had a softball tournament, then it was the week of the fourth! It’s been nice to take a little break from typing any posts, but I’m still reading all of yours!

So yesterday I ran my second half marathon. I wasn’t planning on PR’ing or anything because I ran a different race 2 days before and I didn’t train as hard. I was just doing it for the experience, especially it being right in my hometown!

Pre race dinner =

photo 1 (32)

I enjoyed the plain noodles very much. Still can’t believe I used to make them every night for dinner.

I wore my Mizuno Wave Elixir 8’s. My top is from H&M and my shorts from Kohls!

I had my go-to race breakfast of toast with peanut butter and banana. I ate a few beans, went to the bathroom, then headed to the start line!

Photo3 (17)

Miles 1-3 were on the highway by the water. I was going at a pretty easy pace and there was a little breeze coming off the water. I was feeling good, not too hot!

Photo2 (34)

mom took it from the car.. good attempt! 😉

I took lots of water. They had plenty of stops so us runners wouldn’t be dehydrated in the heat.

Photo1 (96)

Photo2 (33)

I remember hitting mile 7 and realizing I was over halfway done. I felt so good, I started speeding up!

photo 2 (35)

It was really deceiving when you got to the park because you think you’re done but nope. You still had 2.5 more miles. I think they were the fastest miles I ever ran in a race. I was flying. Picking off people one by one!

photo 3 (30)

I sprinted so fast at the finish. I felt great.

Photo1 (95)

I ended up with a time of 1:45:51 – 4 minutes better than Cellcom! I was so pleased, especially since I was planning on taking it easy! If you know me though, that was never going to happen 😉

They had soo much good food after the race. Fruit, bread, egg bakes, cinnamon rolls, all natural peanut butter, hummus, crackers, you name it. I definitely ate my fair share of calories- hey, I deserved them!

photo 4 (27)

I won my age group and was the 11th overall women. When I got home I took a 4 hour nap and did absolutely nothing the rest of the day. It was wonderful.

photo (42)

I am so, so happy I discovered my love for running and am so blessed to have the ability to. I hope everyone can find what they love and enjoy it!

Posts may start coming a little more frequent. I have so much to tell you guys!

xo, Leigha 😀
