Fashion Friday {5/28-5/31} + some honesty

Long time no see! I didn’t participate in WIAW first because I didn’t take one picture the whole day and two I’m not putting blogging first thing in my life. It was getting to be more of a habit, not a hobby, and I don’t want to become obsessed with it. I know, summer normally equals more blog time.. but I am so busy. I’m only going to post if I have something to say or did something awesome. I’m not going to post just  for the sake of posting. I’m gonna enjoy my summer! I will definitely keep reading blogs though. I love reading about your lives! 😀

How is it June tomorrow?! May seriously flew by! I didn’t have school on Monday which resulted in running shorts and a tshirt.

And there you have it! I don’t know if I’ll continue Fashion Friday during the summer.. since I wear running clothes everyday. Maybe here and there I’ll share a cute outfit. I’m just so excited to be done with middle school!

Later tonight is my basketball team party then tomorrow I’m heading down to Green Bay for my brother’s birthday. It’s gonna be a really fun weekend! I’ll (most likely) see you on Monday 😉

Run for Joe

My first race since the half marathon was yesterday, the Run for Joe, a 5k in honor of a local soldier who was killed fighting for our country.

Last year I ran this race and I got second place for all the women with a time of 22:57. I was so surprised to do that well!

That was literally the beginning of my running journey. So much has changed since then! I would say for the good 🙂

I had toast with pb and banana before the race and I think that is my super power food. I got there, registered, talked to some friends, went to the bathroom, and we were off! I seriously felt like I sprinted the whole race. 3.1 miles is nothing compared to 13.1!

I finished in 20:31! A new PR by well over two minutes! I won overall women too!

I felt like I could’ve gone faster. I wasn’t even tired at the end. I want to break 20!! I am so excited for cross country 😀 and summer races! I just want to race!

After the run I inhaled at least a dozen donut holes (I deserved them!) and then mom and I headed over to my step grandpas. I’m planting a garden there this year and we went to plan it! Then I found out that he grows asparagus (what?!) and it was ready! I had no idea how asparagus grows- right out of the ground and you just snap it and pick it!

We won’t be buying asparagus for quite awhile 😉 or any veggies, once I start growing!

Busy girl

First of all, a huge marvelous thank you to our veterans. America wouldn’t be where we are today without you!

I had a pretty packed weekend. Allll day Saturday was spent at a softball tournament. First game at 8:30, last game at 6. It was a long day. We ended up taking second place. We really sucked in the morning but as the day went on we pulled it together! Being together the whole day really helped us bond as a team. That really helps!

I did eat some yummy food that day and I didn’t even stress about it. Woohoo!

Sunday was a pretty relaxing day. Went to a grad party with marvelous food. I even dressed up a lil’ 😉

I also introduced some of my friends to Geocaching! They thought it was the coolest thing ever. If you haven’t tried it yet, please do! It’s so fun!

I’ve got a softball tournament this weekend then a 5k on Monday! I’m also going to some graduation parties too. I can’t believe the year’s practically done! Have a super weekend!

WIAW: Lots of PR’s

Hello Wednesday! I can’t believe you’re here already.

It was the last track meet of the season yesterday. It was my last chance to get a school record!

The two mile was first. My first lap was a 1:24 and then they started getting slower.. oops 😉 Anyway, I missed the school record. By a second. My time was 12:22. Ugh!! I guess that’s just more motivation for high school. At least I PR’ed!

Soon after that was the 800. I was planning on taking it easy since I pushed it pretty hard in the two mile. That didn’t happen though, I had a super tight race with another girl. I ended up winning with a time of 2:42. 4 seconds away from that record. UGH. At least I got another PR!

And my last event – shot put. That event was totally unexpected this year. I ended up doing pretty well, 26’11”. Good enough for second place, and also another PR!

So while I didn’t break any school records, I did break my own. I guess that’s still pretty good 🙂 I swear this track season went by so fast!

After the meet I was suuper hungry so we went out for dinner. I got French toast – I deserved it! It’s just so yummy. Thick Texas toast, powdered sugar, melted butter, syrup, it’s okay to have once in awhile 😉

You don’t go to that restaurant without one of their cookies. So. Good. Oatmeal, chocolate chips, almonds, ohh my gosh. It’s love. And huge.

Two nights ago we went to my dad’s for dinner. Kind of like Cooking with Lynn except she did all the cooking! I can’t explain how yummy it was. It just had so.much.flavor. I definitely had thirds, haha 😉 they were small portions!

Somewhat healthy alfredo with whole wheat penne, broccoli, cauliflower, and zucchini. Oh man it was good. I don’t know the recipe but I know she used Greek yogurt. Perfect prerace dinner.

Time is just flying by. 8 more days of school! 😀

Cellcom Green Bay Half Marathon!

I can’t believe I did it. I ran my first half marathon!

We headed to the expo first thing on Saturday. Packet pickup was a breeze and really well organized.. And I had to buy some things.

I got new shoes! Mizuno Wave Elixir 8. I really needed some running shoes and I wanted to try a different brand besides Nike and Asics. I guess we’ll see if I like them this week! If not, good thing you’re supposed to replace shoes after so many miles 😉 I also bought a short sleeve (top) Brooks shirt and long sleeve (bottom). The material is so nice.


I did the 5k for this race back in 2009. So much has changed since then… I look like a little peanut! Wow.

They have a pasta dinner the night before. Penne, marinara, breadsticks, Greek salad (I promise it’s under there!) and cookies. All my favorite foods. I definitely had seconds.

We just chilled in our hotel room for the rest of the night. We stayed at the Aloft. Probably the coolest hotel I’ve ever stayed in!

The night before the race was weird. I could not fall asleep and it seemed to last forever. I was happy when my alarm went off to get up and get ready!

I had a piece of toast with pb and banana before the race. Normally I only have a banana and pb before a long run so I know I wasn’t supposed to eat the toast. But I did and it’s done so whatever!

Also doing the race was my cousin Laura (middle) and her friend Amanda. They ran it together.

I waited in line for the port-a-potty and then went to line up! I wanted to run with the 1:50 group but I missed the time slot to meet them so I didn’t.

26 seconds of silence were held in remembrance of Boston. It was really powerful. In our packets all the runners got a wristband in support.

The gun started and we were off! I could see the 1:50 group so I tried to follow them. Mile 1 came and I remember thinking it was easy. 2 also came pretty quick. After a few miles, I felt like my pace was faster than the 1:50’s so I passed them. My pace was feeling good, I was confident!

Miles 6-10 weren’t very fun. I was just so.bored. My track coach told me today that means I wasn’t running fast enough. That makes a lot of sense and is good to know for the future!

At mile 10 I knew it was just a 5k left so I started picking it up. At 11 I saw Laura’s friends and they gave me a super huge cheer. It helped so much! Cheering really helps runners. I really think it gave me the will to finish!

The runners actually get to run through Lambeau Field. Such an experience. They had music blasting and spectators in the bleachers. Once I was out I knew the finish was close. I came around the last corner and saw the big blue box and started booking it. I came in so fast at the end, literally sprinting! I guess that also shows I could’ve went faster during the race 😉

All this for a grand total chip time of 1:49:38! I broke 2 hours, my goal! And even more awesomeness…

I won my age group! The medal was Olympic sized. So big.

They provide free massages for the runners which I obviously took advantage of. My legs felt so much better after it! And of course I had to have the chocolate milk they supplied. And the bananas.

After checking out at the hotel and packing up we headed home. We were super hungry though, so we stopped at Panera! My first time there!

I got a tomato and mozzerella panini which was pretty yummy but I was still super hungry after so I got pesto sacchettini which was delicious! And a scone of course. Panera will happen many more times in the future 🙂

We stopped at the mall on the way out and I couldn’t resist a smoothie. Avocado + banana = best smoothie I’ve ever had, not even joking! So yummy!

And then we made it home. I can’t believe the day actually came! I remember when I started training and the thought of running 5 miles was crazy. So much has changed!

I am loving spring outfits!

So, I had a track meet yesterday. To sum it up, I did pretty good. My first event was shot put which I threw 20’11”. Considering we had to throw the guys ball, it’s not bad. Then I had to wait for about 2 hours for my next events. 800 was first. I didn’t break the school record, but I did win in 2:45. My heart seriously felt weird after this one. I think it’s because I’m used to running long distances and not sprints! I had an event’s break, then I ran the 2400. I wasn’t going to go super hard since I just ran and to save myself for the half marathon on Sunday(!). Somehow I ended up winning though, in 9:38! And even better, I felt like I could’ve kept going at that pace. Score! Right after that I ran to the discus where I threw 50’something. Hey, it was my first time doing it! This was such a long meet. After a Subway stop (where I tried avocado on my sub- I like it without better!) and an hour’s drive home, I hit.the.sack. I slept so good last night. Now I’m taking it easy today and tomorrow because my first half marathon is on Sunday! 

I’m getting new shoes this weekend. Any suggestions? Please help!
