I can just feel my mood improving so much. It’s absolutely beautiful outside! 60 degrees this weekend- marvelous! I don’t know if that applies to you down south, but it feels like a heat wave here.

You know spring is here when… we start the yard work. Raking leaves is a lot of work!

You know spring is here when… I can cat hunt! Probably my favorite part of summer. I’ll just walk around town and find cats and pet them. (minou means cat in French… if you were wondering what the name meant!)

I’ve got a suuper busy week ahead. This month is just packed! I’m just really happy 🙂

How was everyone’s Monday?

A Busy Saturday

I felt like I was just going nonstop all day yesterday. Woke up from my friend’s at 7:30. What two 14 year old’s wake up that early?! We are definitely not normal. I didn’t even stress about what we were having for breakfast. I just let it happen. Her mom was making bacon and potatoes, literally the only 2 breakfast foods I don’t eat haha. I had a bowl of cereal and some French toast they had in the fridge. It was hard not having my typical green smoothie, but I survived!

I had to leave pretty early to get to Tractor Supply at 9, where I was volunteering. It was pretty boring, but I made some money for my Washington DC trip so it’s all good. That was until 3 so it took up quite a chunk of my day. I learned how to grill!

Photo1 (47)

We didn’t just sit there the whole time, that would’ve been miserable. It was the day where you’re allowed to demo things they sell so of course I had to try out a mini bike.

Photo2 (17)

There was also a guy who made wood carvings with a chain saw. It was so cool. That takes some serious talent.

Photo2 (16)

Lunch break! I went to Bobaloons (again) and got a turkey pita. Not a fan of the mustard, but otherwise yum! And a scone of course.

Photo3 (6)

When I got home I went for an easy 3 mile run. I was perfectly happy. It was beautiful outside, I wanted to keep going forever. It was just amazing.

Photo3 (7)

Volunteered again at a community dinner. Had to wear light shirt and dark pants.

Photo1 (48)

Home, cereal, went to bed. I was so exhausted. In bed at 10 on Saturday night. It felt awesome.

What was the most interesting part of your Saturday?

Fashion Friday [4/22-4/26] + a few extras

Is it seriously Friday? This week just flew by! I’ve got a school dance and then I’m sleeping at a friend’s tonight. I’m forcing myself to be more social since I would happily sit in my living room this whole weekend 🙂 I’m looking forward to it though! My mom has been irking me lately. I need to get out of the house!

About my mom. I think I’ve been relying on her too much. We haven’t talked much the past couple of days, but I’m actually really happy. At school, practice, by myself. I feel really good. Maybe I just needed a break from her!

I’m also not worrying about food as much. We didn’t make dinner together, we just ate whatever we wanted (how we used to be). I feel like I listened to my body and it wanted carbs. So I had pasta the past two nights in a row!

Photo2 (15)

Whole wheat rotini with marinara, spinach, chicken, and an egg. I saw the egg on Sunnie‘s page and I’ve wanted to try it since. It adds so much flavor!

Photo1 (45)

Whole wheat penne with broccoli, chicken, and alfredo. Definitely added more sauce after this was taken.

Race planning is going amazing! I am a super busy girl. I had no idea it would take off like this. We’ve got radio stations, newspapers, Facebook, everyone is getting invovled! Check out the flyer below 🙂

Have a fantastic weekend!

Cooking with Lynn {Failure at its Finest}

Last night I went to my dad’s and we did some cookin’. (With my step mom, not my dad lol) If you remember last time, I was super excited for this!

I saw this on Pinterest awhile ago and it just looked so darn good. Doesn’t it?!

smoky sweet potato burger

smoky sweet potato burger with roasted garlic cream and avocado

Well, we made them. The verdict? Definitely not what I was expecting. They were pretty nasty. I think they would’ve been good if they weren’t “smoked”. I do not like “smoked”. But the garlic cream and avocado? Deelish. The only reason I finished it.

I did learn something very valuble from this recipe though- the difference between a sweet potato and yam! I think I’m more of a sweet potato girl 😉

Photo1 (41)

The second contender:

warm edamame and quinoa salad

I was really excited for this because it was the first time I ever tried quinoa! I can’t believe I hadn’t tried it yet, haha. It’s like the most prominent healthy people food! It was also my first time trying edamame.

Well this wasn’t too good either. I liked the quinoa and edamame, but overall it was not a winner.

And our third try:

Skinny Chunky Monkey Cookies

….. yuck. They smelled good, looked good, but did not taste very good. I think they needed a little more sweetness. They were just really bland.

3 strikes… Didn’t think you could have 3 fails in one night! Oh well!

So, it was not a very successful cooking night. But, I got to try some new foods and still had a good time! You win some, you lose some, right?

Happy WIAW! Thanks to Jenn for hosting, as always 😀

Always doing something

For not having plans this weekend, I still stayed pretty busy. That’s good though, otherwise I get quite crabby! Some marvelous  things did happen though, so let’s share!

Marvelous: On Friday I went to a friend’s birthday party. Healthy people, avert eyes. I ate so.much.pizza. I lost count around 6… I do think my body needed it though. Sometimes it needs a break from health and could use some grease to get movin’! I really enjoyed it and that’s okay once in awhile!

Image (12)

Marvelous: Went for our usual Saturday run with cousin Laura. Always a nice easy pace to get ready for Sunday long runs, and some good talks.

Marvelous: I hit double digits!!! It is so crazy to think about just a few months ago when the only exercise I got was going to the fridge. I ran 10 miles. Technically 10.8 with warmup + cooldown! I just can’t believe I’m here.

Marvelous: The Cellcom Half Marathon is in less than 4 weeks! Wow. That is going to come so quick! I’m so pumped.

Marvelous: Dinner on Saturday. Such an easy meal but it was so delicious. Ciabatta with turkey, swiss, spinach, and tomatoes with roasted asparagus. Those of you on Instagram know what I’m talking about!

photo (36)

Marvelous: Brunch on Sunday. I needed some recovery foods after the 10 miler and this was perfect. Baked Oatmeal Casserole  except this time we added a mashed banana to the oats. Shut the front door it was amazing. Plus a green smoothie.

Image (13)

Marvelous: Family dinners. Grandma doesn’t have them too often anymore but I love when she does. I think this was the first time I actually ate what she made, no fuss. Big steps! Chicken and biscuits. It was good! Plus her oatmeal bars. Grandma’s recipes are always the best.

Image (14)

Marvelous: I am planning a Run for Boston. I had the idea last week, and I’m making it happen. All the proceeds will go to the One Fund Charity. It’s a lot of work! But I think it’s going to go well. It’s on May 11 and I’m really excited. I probably won’t be on the blog world too much- I’m crazy busy!

I definitely feel like I gained a little weight this weekend. I’ll get back on track this week.

So that’s a little recap of my weekend. What was the best thing about yours?

Fashion Friday

Hey everyone! Happy Friday!

I’m gonna start something new. Instead of doing a post for every outfit, I’m just gonna post all my week’s in one post! I figure that won’t get as obnoxious as a post everyday 😉

I am just so excited for the weather to get warmer and not wear jeans! I want shorts weather! Sadly, it doesn’t look like that’s coming soon. It’s snowing right now. Go away!!

I get most of my clothes from Kohls. (Lauren Conrad, Mudd, Candies, JLo, Elle) Love that store. Of course, as soon as I get home, the sweatpants go on 😉

I made a Minougirl Instagram and Twitter! Check them out.

The rest of this weekend isn’t too packed. Birthday party tonight, car wash (weather permitting!) on Saturday, 10 miles on Sunday- the most I’ve ever run! Oh my gosh… the half marathon is a month fromtoday!!

So what do we think? Yes to Fashion Friday?

Have a super weekend!

Sorry I’ve been absent for a few days guys, I just wasn’t really feeling like posting with everything going on. 😦 Plus track’s started so that’s taking up some time.  However, I definitely haven’t been lacking in the food area, so let’s get started with WIAW (plus a few highlights) Thanks to Jenn, as always!

I tell you, I have had a green smoothie every morning for at least a week straight. I’m obsessed. And they’re just such a great way to get some greens in the morning! This is from yesterday but I had the exact same thing today.

I also finally found oatmeal that I like! 1/2 cup oats plus half a banana right in the pot for 20 min. They absorb the flavor so well and with a little almond milk and brown sugar, this is heaven. I finally like oatmeal! 🙂

Photo2 (12)

Nothing special. I’m trying to use up the “smoked” turkey- I’m not a big fan. The sandwich was a multigrain thin, turkey, kale, feta, and a little hummus. I ate the apple and a leftover healthy cookie too.

Photo1 (35)

I was supposed to go cook with Lynn tonight, but she cancelled! I still wanted to make something so we made tuna patties and roasted asparagus. Both new things for me! Oh my gosh how have I never had asparagus. It’s so good! That will definitely be a staple this summer. And the patties weren’t bad either! They had a dill sauce which was delicious.   It’s so nice to be trying new foods now! I even finished my mom’s plate 😉

Photo1 (39)

I made another batch of banana muffins. This is coming to you soon. They are amazing.

Photo1 (37)

Made this for dinner on Sunday. One of the simplest meals ever, but it was pure delicious. It wasn’t missing one thing. Tortellini, broccoli, mushrooms, and alfredo. I could eat this every day, not even kidding.

Photo2 (14)

I tried spaghetti squash! And it was disgusting. Well now I know! The pesto, tomatoes, and feta were yummy but not.the.squash. At least I can say I tried it!

Photo1 (38)

I went to Stone’s (again) You cannot leave there without a cookie! Gluten free peanut butter chocolate chunk. Does it get better than that?!

What is your favorite, simple recipe?
