Shopping and Baseball and Car Rides, Oh My!

Hey everyone! It was nice to have one last hurrah before school starts – a trip to Detroit! This post will be a recap of the trip, and Wednesday’s post will be the eats :D

Mom and I headed out right after my cross country meet where I got 4th place! My time was 21:08. It was so. hot. Which figures since we ran at 12:30!

After what seemed like forever, we finally made it to our hotel. We were so tired, we just went straight to bed!

The next morning we woke up ready to shop.

We went to Great Lakes Crossing, Michigan’s largest outlet mall! I’m telling you, it has the largest Forever 21 you will ever go to. It’s the size of a department store. Oddly, I couldn’t find a single thing there. Crazy. Normally I’m head over heels in that store! I really didn’t get too many clothes. I don’t need any! I did get…

an anchor shirt! I’ve been looking so long for one and I finally found one! It’s from Windsor Store. I’m thinking first day of school outfit! Some more purchases:

Victoria’s Secret actually had good deals. Running shorts for $8, tshirt and capris each $10, sports bra for $5!

white jeans

White jeans at American Eagle for $12!

I didn’t even run that day. Walking around the mall was workout enough!

After shopping we headed to the heart of Detroit – Comerica Park!

Go Tigers!

The Tigers were ahead 5-2 when we decided to leave in the bottom of the seventh. Good thing we left, because literally the minute we were on the road it started POURING! Pouring like couldn’t see the car in front of you and going 45 on the freeway. Luckily we made it to our hotel safe in about a half hour!

On the way home we stopped at the Mystery Spot to say hi to my cousins – they own it! We also stopped to find a Geocache.

I finished two books during this road trip – “The Michigan Murders” and “Almost Anorexic”. They were both amazing books. Highly recommended reads.

Now I’ll just be enjoying my last day of summer – I start high school on Tuesday! Wish me luck :D

Foodie Pen Pals Reveal Day August

Last month I participated in the amazing program called Foodie Pen Pals! If you haven’t participated yet, go on over and register. Seriously. It’s so much fun! Lindsay does such a great job!

I received my package from Mickie, who doesn’t have a blog. She is from Idaho, where my cousins live! In my package…

Huckleberry Brownie Mix. Um yes please. So excited to make them.

Wild Huckleberry Apple Jelly. Delish on toast.

Huckleberry WHITE CHOCOLATE cocoa mix. Yes.

And last but not least…

Butter Toffee almonds. Immediately torn open when I got the package. So. Yummy.

I could not have asked for a better pen pal this month. Mickie was amazing! Thanks again, girl!

WIAW – A Day at the Market

It’s Wednesday, yet again, and that means it’s WIAW!

Breakfast

I had a piece of toast with half pb&banana half avocado.

Photo3 (31)

I had the exact same thing when I got home from cross country. One piece of toast isn’t enough for breakfast!

Lunch

Since it was like 90 degrees out I wanted something cold and refreshing. Which means green smoothie. It was NOT as good as normal though, since I only had kale, no spinach :( I really don’t like kale in smoothies. It never mixes well.

I knew I needed something more so I had, you guessed it, an avocado turkey sandwich. It will never get old.

Then I headed to the Farmer’s Market to set up my stand! I sold my green beans and tomatoes. My cousin sold her wine racks and homemade purses, and my mom sold Tastefully Simple! It’s only $5 to set up a stand, so I figured why not? I made $12 :D

Dinner

I don’t even know what dinner was. A whole bunch of randoms thrown together. I wish I was creative with meals, but I’m not. I eat the same things everyday.

Photo2 (62)

Green beans, broccoli & hummus, tomatoes, guac, chips & salsa. I really wasn’t even hungry that much. The weather was all groggy and humid which makes me not hungry!

Dessert

I had big plans. I actually felt like baking something! I had so many recipes. But that’s the problem. I get overwhelmed and can’t pick something! So, dessert ended up being ice cream. Moose Tracks and Vanilla. With horrrrible quality.

So… not my best day of eats, but not my worst. But check out these amazing (and simple) treats!

Sunnie’s Healthified Reese’s

Kathryn’s Oatmeal Bites

Aurora’s Banana Custard

Have a happy Hump Day! :D

8th Grade Recognition

I wrote most of this post back in June and never got around to posting it. Oops! I figure I probably should share before I start high school next month!

Woohooo I’m officially a high schooler! No more middle school!! I can’t even explain how ecstatic I am to be out of that prison. See ya never!

Graduation was on Monday and the last day was on Tuesday. My school has a whole ceremony and banquet- the whole shabang.

Photo3 (16)

My dress is one that I bought at TJ Maxx about 5 years ago – for $3! It was always too big, but when I tried it on this time it fit perfect!

We took lots of pictures and had a dinner. I seriously ate so. much. pizza. My belly had no feeling.

I gave a speech. This is something I never imagined I would do. It was actually more of a poem since it rhymed. It talked about the memories of middle school and what to expect in high school. Everyone told me I did great, and it was really fun writing it!

Then we had a dance for a few hours. No one really danced, but we took lots of pictures. And you know what? I had fun!

I really hope I have a good time in high school and enjoy it. It’s my last 4 years of living at home and not having to worry about things. Let’s just hope I remember that!

Do you remember your middle school graduation? What about high school?

Fashion Friday {Fair Week}

It looks like Fashion Friday is making an appearance! It’s been quite awhile since I shared any outfits (mostly because I wear running clothes everyday) but I did dress up last week for the fair!

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

Yesterday I took a trip with a group from church to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. It was so nice to get away for the day and hang out with nature!

I had some toast then squeezed in a quick 3 mile run before we left knowing I wouldn’t want to run when I got home. When I got to church they had doughnuts… and chocolate milk… and I couldn’t resist ;)

Photo4 (12)

After some brief problems finding the trail, we were finally on our way! The hike lasted a little over an hour and covered just over 3 miles.

I was starving when we finally made it to the beach and eagerly devoured my lunch – PB&J, broccoli & carrots, and an apple.

I wasn’t planning on going swimming but people looked like they were having fun so I caved :D Lake Superior was pretty cold, but really refreshing!

We hiked back and within 10 minutes of leaving we were caught in a torrential downpour. God blessed us with a beautiful day hiking though, so I’m not complaining! We stopped at Hardee’s on the way home. I didn’t want anything because a) I don’t like fast food and b) I had this waiting for me at home!

I watched the Tigers, pinned, and was more than ready for bed at 9:00. I’m a grandma ;)
